Dai Haifei only wanted a small dwelling where he could sleep, get warm and be close to his workplace.
After finishing his design degree, he talked to one of his teachers about his project of building a house and after having their support and with some help of friends and relatives, he built a 2 x 3 metres long home made of a steel mesh, wood, bambú with an outer layer of sacks containing wood chips and grass seeds.

One of the sides of the "egg" is hollowed out as a door and there are wheels underneath it so it can be moved easily.
